Charlie was available this summer he is a proven goal scorer at this level and Im sure soon will make the step up to league football. Anyone know if Dev had a look at him or anything would have been a great signing for the club and he was seeking a move to a london based club. Netted a hat rick against earlier this season top scorer in the league but seemed to not even be on Devs radar?

I bet he is on £500+.

And it's a big risk for a club like Hampton. He would at least get a 1 year contract, and if he picked up an injury the club would be committed to paying those wages.

I'm sure Dev wanted him, but it's about weighing up options... these transfer links are like people who watch Prem football, where you get Spurs fans wanting Van Nistelrooy, and Notts County linked with Roberto Carlos!

All very good saying they would improve your team, but will they want to move, and will they take a pay cut!

I believe they are also waiting for a tribunal to rule on the fee that Stortford need to pay to Welling as they were unable to agree one themselves. Stortford have had to let players go recently without this extra outgoing so it remains to be seen if he is worth it as they may have his goals but have been forced to cut back in other places.

I'd much rather see Hampton as a sustainable club spending less on wages than what is generated through the turnstiles, rather than the other way round and going bust.

Two options - Sustainable future for the club and enjoy the good times/bad times when they happen, OR, go for broke spend loads on players, and go bust and see no more games at the Bev.

I'd rather the first option and see the club in Ryman Div 1, then do the second for one season in the Blue Square Prem followed by no club existing.

Jamie, that's because you have the advantage over many on this forum of having supported (and played for) the club in the seasons before the recent glory years.
I think most of us in those years before promotion to the Ryman Premier and then Blue Square South could only dream of the club being in the position it is now and look at it as a bonus but the club's survival is, as you say the most important thing.

My proudest moment at the club was playing 25 minutes for the first team, albeit is a meaningless pre season friendly match away to Farnham? (near Aldershot) in a side full of trialists.

This club needs to be protected from people craving a quick spending spree for a small period of success. Rather than spending loads on player wages and some £10k transfer fees I would much rather see a proper youth system in place to produce the Ben Wrights and Leroy Griffiths' that bring money into the club to keep in running.

I think the club's priority should be on looking at developing this are - perhaps linking up properly with Richmond College and having a football course there, and using the college teams as an academy that branches off the youth and reserve teams, this would provide a catchment area of young talent across the whole borough that the club is mean to represent. And then talent may come to Hampton instead of the likes of Brentford.

The club should also look to form links with the bigger local teams, Brentford, Chelsea, QPR, Fulham etc... as when they release the YTS graduates at 18 and 19, some have nowhere to go and disappear as aren't quite good enough for a lesser league club to take a chance on. If links were properly formed these clubs could recommend they go down to Hampton, and these highly talented youngsters would have an outlet to showcase their talents and get back into to pro game the hardway, just like the likes of Michael Kightly who dropped out of Southend but got to his local non league club Grays to prove himself before getting his move back to the league with Wolves.

Hampton need to look at these avenues and prioritise this rather some of the other meaningless things like expensive Coroprate boxes.
