Hampton came away convincing winners over their Premier Division opponents in the League Cup, where they will now face either Northwood or Leighton Town in the next round.
On another day it could have been double figures but a mixture of poor and/or unlucky finishing plus some excellent saves from the Three Bridges goalkeeper kept it to just the two goal margin.
Our first real attack resulted in a goal - Joey Collewijn, facing one of his former clubs, was given space in midfield and he used this to great effect playing the ball wide to Stitch. His cross was inch perfect for Louis-Rae Beadle to head home firmly to put us 1-0 up after 8mins. This move was repeated again as this time Luke played the ball wide with the cross from Stitch met by Joey this time - but his header just went over the bar. Stitch continued to get the better of the full back and Troy Powell nearly profited from his low low cross, but was just unable to connect.
Troy was again in action, on his debut, with a run and shot - the keeper did well to parry away firmly the loose ball rebounded to James Brown but his shot was over the target. Troy went close a couple of minutes later when he chipped the keeper, but the keeper got the slightest of touches to deflect the ball wide. Joey tried to turn the ball in from the most acute of angles - and in turning the ball back the ball went into the goal via a defenders touch - but the 'goal' was ruled out and a corner given as Joey had just been unable to keep the ball in play.
The second goal soon followed though, a good series of sweeping passes moving sharply upfield ended with the ball at Stitch's feet on the left wing. He simply beat the full back and shuffled the ball out of his feet and hit a bullet of a shot from 25yards into the top corner. We went looking for a third before half-time and Joey came close with a whipped shot which went just wide. Ashley Quashie provided a good chance in setting up James Brown - but his shot was bravely blocked by the defender. Joey, keen to score against his old club nearly managed his goal when latching onto a fine pass from Louis-Rae. Joey rounded the keeper but the angle proved too tight and his effort fell into the side-netting.

H-T Three Bridges 0 Hampton & RB 2

The 2nd half started slowly and took 10mins before we had an effort at goal with Troy coming close to converting Ashley's cross. Three Bridges then produced the games talking point from their first real effort on goal - their nbr 6 hit a powerful shot from fully 30yards which hit the bar and bounced down. It was a bit of an England 1966 World Cup Final moment - but unfortunately for Three Bridges the assistant was from Surrey not Russia and did not give the 'goal'. This seemed to wake us up a bit and although we lost Stitch, with a hamstring injury, we created a series of chances which should have sealed the win - and made the scoreline more reflective of our domination.
James Brown had one of those days - forcing two fine saves from the Bridges keeper. The keeper then denied Joey from notching a goal but even he was left standing when Troy broke down the right hand side to square to Otis - but he somehow managed to whack the ball over the bar.
Midway throughthe half Louis-Rae hit a powerful shot - again deflected bravely to fly just over and wide.
Troy again showed some of his neat footwork - skipping past two defenders and curling his shot just over the bar.
James Brown went close again with a flicked header from a blake Goodman cross. With 15mins to go Three Bridges forced Joe Talbot into showing his safe hands from a free kick - before we saw James Brown going just wide, after more good work from Troy Powell.
Three Bridges had gone to three strikers in the hope of pulling a goal back with 10mins remaining - but this just gave us more chances to seal the game. Troy was causing their defenders all sorts of bother - and Joey and Louis-Rae both went close as a result of his skill. Troy should have scored himself. Sub Larry Adaje beat the full back and put in the perfect low cross - but Troy somehow managed to miss from 3yards out. In the last 5 mins we still had three more chances to score but the keeper was equal to the efforts from Joey(2) and Luke.

Enrico Grimm scored a hat trick on his debut for Bedfont's first team.

as for Stitch I don't know...hopefully the physio's can work some magic...but if he's not fit then it gives someone else a chance to come in and show what they can do.

Sounds like he could be potential first team material then.
