TBH i think we'll be better without him, he never really did much besides take it to the corner and do 3 or 4 stepovers, we've already taken a better player than shaun on trial in Dave Tarpey and i don't think we'll miss him at all. And from what i'v heard Ashley Smith is a great player who just needs time to settle before he can perform at his best, giving us another sufficent replacement for shaun.

I have heard that although he still lives fairly locally, Shaun now works in or around Eastleigh. Obviously this makes travelling for training and midweek matches difficult. If anyone finds the missing Recorded Delivery receipt we may find out what happened. I share der Zwerg's frustration and shall not be holding my breath.

Isn't this a similar situation to how/why we signed Jamie Collins?
And Hampton paid a small fee for him to make the move.

So surely Hampton could have got a small fee for Shaun?

However small the fee it helps, the club always wants fans to contribute on top of gate money such as the sponsor a seat idea. Even if we'd asked £100 for Shaun that would have paiud for 2 seats in the new stand. It may sound petty but 2 seats extra sponsorship is better than none.

The difference is that both Hampton and Havant accepted that Jamie Collins was a Havant player. Unless we can prove we advised Shaun he was being retained, he was entitled to sign for Eastleigh. In view of Stef's post on this thread of 14 July, the matter has not been concluded but I suspect we will hear little or nothing from the club, who will hope all will be forgotten in time.

When I spoke to Lee Dev at the Watford game he definately intimated we had received a nominal fee for Shaun. I won't go further into it than that but it is my understanding that we did get something from Eastliegh.

As much as I liked Shaun, I thought that last year he didn't progress as a player, and was no where near as effective as in his debut season. Maybe a move to Eastleigh where he already knows several people will help him make that next step.

I would agree with Joe as I think Smith and Tarpey have shown enough so far to give hope for another good season.

Shaun though he had talent didn't seem to be about to hold down a place in any position. He seemed to just fill in when people were out.

I would compare it to when Barrie Matthews joined us, but Barrie went on to secure a starting role for himself and make it his own. Sadly Shaun could not do this.

He won't, he's the kind of player who will murder a weak team but who won't turn up against better teams
