so we've lost jon as well. has he gone for the reason I think, which it has been suggested shouldn't be broadcast on this forum, or other reasons? I'm wondering if any other players may walk because of this reason.
No disrespect to Jon ment by this. In the short time he was with us he caused havoc in opposition penalty boxes. Most memorable instance of this was a league game at Chelmsford at the end of last season, Jon absolutely terrorised their defence. He'll be missed for his contributions.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Managers, Coaches and Players don't rely on football forums for that sort of info. I doubt if the majority of managers have ever viewed a forum. Football is a close knit community and most of what is seen on forums is already well known to those involved on the inside of the game.
Quite gutted just heard the news that jons left. What is with all these recent departures. Were coming up to christmas which is a very busy time of year for games and therefore fatigue and injury. Surley we should be keeping the squad more or less the same rather than selling player which i spose is to decrease our labour costs as their too high. Jon was a very good in my opinion although few see past his rory delap like throw he was actually a very good footballer. He has always done a great job filling in as a utility player he can get up and down the wing all game he is good in the air a good passer mabye lacks a bit of pace but i think this is a poor move for the club as im sure we are now going to struggle at the back or in midfield if there are a number of injuries which is likely around this time of year. Good news that tarpeys back though a player who I think has the potential to be as good as Godfrey if not better!
It states that Havant put in a 7 day approach for McDonald, which means he was not on a contract at Hampton and is free to move. It also says he left after agreeing terms with Havant. Seeing as Jon's previous club was Staines I'm presuming he is a local lad. So perhaps the reasons are money related. Either 1) Havant will give him the security of a contract and/or 2) They are going to pay him more money.
Either way I'm sure Havant will be using the long throw strategy from now on...

For what it's worth I can't say I rated Jon as a player. A decent left back but not as good as Tanner and not great when asked to play RB or CB. Yes he had a mammoth throw but should that alone be a reason for keeping a player in the team? He made a lot of mistakes in his short time with us, some costly and some not so.
If we needed to lower the wage bill then he would have been one of my first choices to go.
So the mighty throw specialist has gone, a great weapon, but you have to hold your place for other reasons too. Oh! He has gone to Havant! Who are we playing next? Yes, you've guessed it !!! Reckon our defenders need to get their hard hats on and most of training on Thursday needs to be based on defending against long throws !!
