I would be the first to agree that yesterdays performance was rubbish and if I was manager Jamie Collins would struggle to get in the reserve team. The fact is though that Alan Devonshire is the manager , the same manager who has taken us to three play off finals and a league championship in the last four years. So before we all start moaning let's give him plenty of time to turn it around as I'm sure he will. Remember the year we won the Ryman league after 15 games our record was W5 D4 L6.
Another performance similar to last years defeat against brackley. The big occasions always seem to phaze hampton's team. We can pick out good and bad individual performances but all in all the team at the moment are not good enough. Were not scoring enough goals and conceding far too many. The first season in the blue square south we have scored 87 in 42! Cant see us getting anywhere near that this season. The strikers are not scoring enough surely we could have signed charlie sherringham who was available in the summer a proven goal scorer? The midfield is nothing without quarm who to be honest is our main passer of the ball no one in midfield can pick out through balls like godfrey and quarm used to do. I'd like to see Dave tarpey in the godfrey role as he is a similar player to ben wright and is also a goal scorer like godfrey was. Our defence without wellsy seems always exposed were lacking a holding midfielder similar to kelvin who will get the ball off the defence or by winning a tackle and give it early to the midfied. Football is a simple game its about passing and moving. When hampton do this which is once this season against braintree 4-1 we look very impressive and its simple. We need another yaks he is getting on and cant play everygame its hard to see where the goals will come from. Dundas has a few to his credit but wont score as many as yaks would used to hodges is the target man who combined well and gets a fair few for his role. Charles Im not going to judge just yet but yesterday he was shocking no effort and did nothing aswell. Dont think we have ever replaced inns, godfrey, wright and kelvin these player all played in important positions and its where we are lacking at the moment. Lets hope we can make some signings in the january window to help this. Collier has done well from the bench but think he needs to get much stronger and get stuck in more. Eastleigh now on tuesday could be an embarresment sean likely to score aswell lets hope the boys start working hard in training and it will eventually pay off on the pitch!
Why would we want to sign players when there is a team of players that i'm sure are eager to make a breakthrough in the 1st team....they're still yet to be tested. A well done to dundas, the only hampton player that looked like he wanted to win!

I love your optimism, but last season is history, and has little bearing on NOW. To put it bluntly, I think Collins has been a mistake, but because he cost a fee, he has to be played. That my opinion, right or wrong.
At the back we look ok and the forwards aren't doing badly but there's no midfield, which leaves the defence exposed and the forwards with no service. Get that sorted and we will pick up, but until then? Very little I fear.

Non potes trahere in ganea!!! And if Peter Barnes works this one out, I give up!
Maybe a couple of the reserves should get a run out to see what changes are made.....especially looking at thier league table seems like they'd have some sort of impact.
The reserves are doing very well in their league, but it is the Suburban League (North) and it is well below the quality needed to play regularly in the Blue Square South. It's possible a few players in that league will make it higher in the pyramid but most won't. It's a massive jump but good luck to any players that eventually make it.
Just because they're in a lower league does not mean that they're not capable of greater things. I obviously Don't mean the whole team but I'm sure their midfield is gettin on ok. Sutton is just ONE example of a lower league team capable of better things, because they're in the suburban league is no excuse. When they've been given a chance and then they've failed then you'll have an argument. Until then i stand firmly by my input

But you have to remember thats how nathan got into the first team throught the reserves and is the best midfielder at the mo!!! so there must be some quality for them to be top of their league unbeaten
Still fuming about the lack of passion and desire to win shown by the team on Saturday. Credit to Sutton they did a job on us but we made it so, so easy. Yet again Dundas was the only shining light but both he and Charles had absolutely nothing to feed off. Coliins in my opinion is out of his depth in this team and it is sorrowful that we are resorting to long throw in's as the best chance of winning games. Barrie Matthes has been poor for the last few weeks and looked like he was playing in lead boots on Saturday and the full backs seem to have given up on the prospect of pushing forward down the wings. All adds up to a complete shambles that has been getting progressively worse for a number of weeks (with the exception of the Braintree replay). Only Trigger was shouting and encouraging others and he wasn't even playing!
Have been looking forward to Eastleigh away for weeks now but cannot motivate myself to spend £50 plus on watching another lacklustre performance of that calibre.
Having watched the young lads in the reserves a few times, the reason for them being so dominant in games is the pace throughout the team. The first team have only one player with genuine pace and even he is slowing with the passing of time. Although Nathan stood out there were a few others who would not disgrace the present first team especially one lad I remember playing at the back in the no 4 shirt. The reserves beat Maidenhead easily I remember last season; I think it is the Scotch sage Hansen that said you can't live with pace!
Having watched MLC at farnborough last season before moving to this area, positioning himself where he does netted him 25 goals, the only difference I have noticed is that the ball was put where he could use his strengths and not hoofed up the field and out of reach, the same can be said for all the strikers, they are chasing at best 50/50 balls, the lack of regular goals from anyone seems to suggest this, I am not commenting on who had and who didn't have a good game, but you dont get too many goals unless you feed the 'scorers'
