At half time on Saturday matchdays how about a section of the bar that is reserved for beer sales only. For instance have maybe 20 pints of lager/bitter ready poured and dedicated members of staff just serving this section.
Because at the moment you have people who just fancy a half time pint queing up three deep behind people putting in orders like: A pint of Guinness, a pint of lager, a pint of bitter, a gin and tonic, glass of red, glass of white, a drop of scotch, a cup of coffee and oh yes what flavour crisps have you got?
Basically 15mins to serve one punter all others go thirsty. What do you think just an idea?

It`s what they do in pubs in Twickenham on Rugby Days, set up pints to speed service.

I also believe we should have a seperate Hot drinks section. Many a punter just wants a drink and has to queue behind the Burger fans.
Not sure how or where this can be done but we should look into it.

Well there is always the serving hatch inside the hall?

I hate to return to how thing were done in the past but this facility was available during 'big games' from the serving hatch under the main stand. So it's not the lack of an available facility but utilising what you've already got.

You havn`t been paying attention Cap`n! The facility under the old stand is now the Junior Beavers Snack Bar. Youngsters no longer have to queue up at the Burger Bar to get drinks and sweets.

Last night at the Board Meeting of the Supporters Trust we discussed possible alternatives.
As there is power to the Midway Bar, no longer used as such, why not use that to dispense hot and cold drinks (other clubs do something similar).
That would give the club 3 outlets;-
Hammonds Kitchen, the Junior Beavers Snack Bar and a Tea Hut.
However St Johns need a base, plus somewhere to treat injured supporters, and David has his eyes on the Midway Bar (to be moved to a spot near Bob`s Shed). How about `we` (currently the Supporters Club) buy them a new shed. or should I say, summerhouse `type` with double doors. Solves everyones problem.

Oh Les but i have been paying attention. I even noticed the lovely new Snack Bar sign.
All i was saying was that there WAS such a facility for hot drinks so what is the point of finding a new location when it was there all the time.

Rather than buting a load of sheds and having the club look like a cross between a building site and a garden centre wouldn't it make more sense to plan it over the long term, say ready for next season, and have a permanent structure built that looks as though it's meant to be there. Or if the new stand evry gets the go ahead maybe it could be incorporated into that?

Please forgive me as I am a new member, but why don,t you put in a vending machine with hot drinks in for 12 months and see how things go.

Sorry Jamie, I have to stand up and defend the lowly shed. They perform a useful service and are valued members of the community. I have two in my garden! and they have never caused me to be ashamed.
Many clubs at this level use sheds as tea bars, burger bars, club shops, first aid posts etc Agreed they are tucked away in some dark and secluded corner because of their unfortunate reputation but they shouldn`t be dismissed out of hand.
I believe they even have their own web site now in an attempt to improve their profile ; www.shedsRus.co.uk which also has links to self help sites to aid those people with an irrational fear of sheds. Masybe you should talk through your problems with a sympathetic shed counsellor. I1m sure they will help to cure you of your irrational fear of sheds.
Perhaps Dr Pam could help? She`s always available.

I also have a shed but not an irrational fear of it,only a rational fear. On a more serious note, the challenge for the bar area is to be able to cope with the matchday peak demand when it's standing room only and then be attractive for use during the week days. The larger area outside of the bar is not to my mind very appealing or comfortable place to come and watch a football match on the rather small TV screens and the pool table stuck in the middle rather dominates the whole area. Is there any way that the midweek decor could be improved to give a more sports bar feel to the whole area - a sofa or two, one larger TV screen rather than the three smaller ones etc?
