Well the good run continued with a good win over Newport Pagnell Town. With the pitch in cracking condition and the sun shining Hampton immediately went on the offensive.
On 7 mins Nathan Collier hit an excellent shot from the edge of the box with the Town keeper making an excellent save - tipping it over the bar. Nathan was involved again shortly afterwards when again he took the chance to shoot. This time the ball was deflected to Joey Collewijn but the shot was just wide.
Joey had another opportunity when Stitch turned his marking defender in the area and laid off the pass - this time Joey's shot went over the bar.
The goal that had been on the cards finally came when Blake Goodman hit a beautiful crossfield ball to the feet of Stitch. He ran at the full back and drilled into the far top corner - keeper no chance.
Ashley Quashie was looking dangerous on the left as well and he provided a cross with Joey again just knocking the ball wide.
At this point Newport Pagnell had not been much of an attacking threat but on 36mins they drove forward and a shot was heavily deflected forcing Joe Talbot into a fine save low to his left. An equaliser then and the game could have taken on a different complex.
As it was Hampton managed to score twice in the last 6 mins of the half.
On 39mins a pass from Stitch to Joey in the area gave Joey the chance to roll his defender and hit home for a well deserved goal. Ashley nearly had a goal but the defender got back to head off the line. The 3rd goal came on the stroke of half-time with a cross from Ashley volleyed home by Enrico Grimm - showing great technique.
There was still time to create one more chance when Joey turned in the box and fired against the bar - Enrico went to finish but the Newport Pagnell keeper bravely smothered.

The 2nd half was a much quiter affair. The heat and substitutions could be used as excuses - but as is often the case when holding a commanding lead the temptation is to ease up a little.
We did create chances but they were few and far between as Newport Pagnell showed a more determined attitude .
The first chance fell to Joey who saw his shot saved by the keeper, after Enrico had got to the byeline and pulled it back for the chance.
We nearly scored from a corner when Stitch put the ball in - Blake's header fell to Joey who saw his header miss the target.
Newport Pagnell nearly got a consolation goal when a shot from distance hit the bar - but the follow up was offside.

The victory was sealed when two of our substitutes combined. Jamie Beer won the ball in midfield with a strong challange and passed to dayo Junaid - he took the ball in his stride and hit a well placed shot past the Town keeper.

In case you were wondering - and even if you weren't!

Jamie Beer........

debut 22nd August 1998, made 41 starts, 3 subs, 3 goals.
In 1999/2000 didn`t play for us again until midway through the season, 5 starts, 4 subs. Last game came on as a sub v Northwood (Middlesex Senior Cup), 18th Jan 2000, but was an unused sub against Walton & Hersham, 26th Jan (Southern Combination Cup).

Total, 46 starts, 7 subs, 3 goals.

So, now you know!
